Losing Weight is a Journey That Starts With One Step For many people, losing weight can be a lifelong struggle. There are a lot of reasons for this. Sometimes people must take medication for another ailment or disorder which causes a rise in hunger. Or the medication may affect the individual's metabolism, slowing it down. These reasons can cause weight loss. Other men and women suffer from emotional issues with food that can cause weight loss hopeless without counseling. In cases like this, eating is just a substitute for something else. Food can never fill this void so the individual continues to eat in the hopes of fulfilling this unfulfilled void. Both these scenarios can lead to weight gain and even to obesity.

However, there are a few simple things you can do to help with your weight loss. The first is to not diet. That's correct, do not diet! A diet is only a short-term process that's intended for a quick weight loss. However, this can not be sustained and following the diet is over, the person generally gains back all of their weight and more! Instead of diet, you have to approach weight loss for a lifestyle shift. A lifestyle change implies that this is a long-term process that takes some time to implement but will have last outcomes. I've got two buddies who illustrate both things. The first, we will call"Lily." Lily went to L.A. Weight reduction and paid her charges for the 12 week schedule. Great! But after she finished her three-week program, she did not return. Slowly, the pounds came back and today, Lily is fatter than she was before she went to her diet. Contrast that with our next example. "Doug" was addicted to soda. He would have two or one with lunch, one for an afternoon"pick-me-up", and one or two with dinner. (You are going to require a significant calculator to add up all those"empty" calories!) So, to start living a healthier life, Doug decided on a lifestyle shift. He stopped drinking soda. He rather drinks unsweetened teas and water. After six months, Doug has dropped (and maintained that his weight loss) 50 lbs. Plushe claims to have more energy than ever before!

If your weigh gain is due to medical reasons such as medications that boost hunger or reduce metabolism, then speak to your doctor about it. There are hundreds of new drugs that come to advertise annually and there could possibly be an alternative that doesn't have this unwanted side-effect. Or perhaps, your physician might adjust the dose of your medicine to help reduce these cravings for food or reduction in metabolism.

So, as you may see, weight loss requires an entirely new mindset. If you need medication, talk with your physician about altering or reducing your medication. Should you have to eliminate specific foods from your diet plan, select one and begin there. Just don't forget, the longest journey starts with one measure.
